Dr Argyro (Iro) Tsipa completed a PhD in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Her expertise is in the establishment of experimental protocols and modelling of biological systems. Iro has developed a novel experimental protocol focused on real-time monitoring of gene expression in parallel with on-line measurements of substrate utilisation and biomass formation. She has been instrumental in developing an experimental-modelling framework that connects transcriptional regulation to single and double substrate microbial growth kinetics using transcriptional kinetics as quantitative blocks. The framework resulted in model-based control and optimisation.

Iro joined the analytics and metrology facility of SynbiCITE in October 2016 with a focus on proteomic/transcriptomic measurements, and genetic part performance.
